UPDATE: With the increased concern regarding the spread of COVID-19 and recommendation for social distancing, the Master Plan public informational session scheduled for March 26, 2020, will be postponed to a future date (TBD), to allow for full participation by all community members. We will closely monitor developments and reschedule the event as soon as possible. In the meantime, comments can still be sent to staff at planning@bedfordnh.org.

After months of hard work and collaboration between the Town of Bedford and the consultant team, we're ready for the big reveal! The Public Draft of the Blueprint Bedford Master Plan update is now available for review. The Blueprint Bedford Executive Summary provides an overview of the document, and should be your first stop! For all the details, dive into the full document, which is organized into five main sections and an appendix:

1. Introduction - a brief explanation of why the Bedford Master Plan is being updated, and the Guiding Principles around which the Plan is based.

2. The Process - a summary of the public engagement process, which included meetings, surveys, and community events.

3. Bedford Today! - an in-depth look at Bedford's demographics, housing, development patterns, economy, municipal services & infrastructure, open spaces & natural resources, and transportation. This section provides the background information and data utilized in the creation of the recommendations and implementation strategies that follow.

4. Conservation, Preservation & Innovation Framework - map-based recommendations for where conservation and development should take place, based on the community's desire to preserve its existing natural resources and single-family neighborhoods and focus development and redevelopment on specific areas.

5. Big Ideas for Bedford - seventeen "Big Ideas," categorized under each of the Guiding Principles. Each "Big Idea" is accompanied by a list of "Next Steps" for implementation.

6. Implementation Matrix - an Appendix listing all of the "Next Steps" contained in the document along with recommendations for time frame and responsible parties.

We now invite the Bedford community to review the Public Draft Master Plan and let us know if we "got it right." Comments may be submitted to the Bedford Planning Department at planning@bedfordnh.org through April 16th. Please include a Plan page number, comment, and a brief explanation of the reason for the comment.

Blueprint Bedford is YOUR Plan for the future - don't miss this important opportunity to provide feedback!
